Weather Readings in Queenstown for January.

January was a warm but cloudy month with the mean temperatures 1.4 degrees abover normal.  Average temperature for January is 15.9 degrees with 17.3 degrees being recorded.   Highest temperature for the month was 30.5 degrees on the 24th with one other day when the temperature reached 30.0 degrees.  Although above average temperature, it was very much cooler than January last year which was the equal hottest month ever recorded, being 3.4 degrees above normal and reaching over 30 degrees on 6 occasions.
 
Last month was 10 per cent below normal in sunshine with 212.9 hours being recorded.   However it was almost 100 hours below January of last year when 308.8 hours was recorded.
 
Rainfall was very close to the normal of 74.8 mm with 69.2 mm being reached.
